FRY CLUB COLTS 0
The
first round of the league cup was upon us and we entertained Bromley Heath from
Div 2 on Pitch 8 this afternoon as we continued our tour of pitches at Frys.
For
the first time this season, we had our current full squad of players available
which gave the management one or two selection dilemmas.
Like
the week before a stiff breeze prevailed which was almost straight
down the pitch. The winning of the toss was important therefore which
Captain Oli Randall duly obliged with and we kicked
against the wind in the first half. This proved a very even half with few
chances for either keeper to worry about. With both Reece Tucker and Kyle
Curtis stretching the wings, Frys tried to open up the Heath defence but it was
their central defender who struck the decisive blow with a well taken free kick
right on half time, giving Craig Francis no chance in goal.
The
advantage of the wind in the second half did little to help as the ball was
over hit on occasions even though both Matt Baber and
Brad Monelle never gave up running. In the end, with
the game being stretched, it was not surprising, Heath
scored a second, somewhat against the run of play, to secure victory.
Overall
there was little difference in both teams even though Heath are
a division higher. Once again though a disappointing result
leaving Frys with a feeling that it was another game they could have won.
The Man of the Match award was given to James Hurrell Smith for another great defensive performance.
